Peyote stitch

Peyote, charted on the half-drop peyote makes.

Every other column sits half a bead lower, because that is how peyote beads interlock. Draw on that lattice and the diagonal you see on screen is the diagonal you get on the thread.

A cuff charted for peyote stitch
Columns drop a half bead. Each bead nests between the two below it.

On a square grid a peyote diagonal looks like a staircase and a curve looks like nothing at all. The offset lattice shows the design the way the beadwork will read, so a motif drawn for a loom cuff can be moved to peyote and checked before a single bead is picked up.

Same design, other stitches

Move the cuff to another lattice and look again.

A pattern's stitch can be changed in the editor. The beads keep their codes; the lattice changes, so a diagonal that was clean in one stitch can be checked in the other before anything is bought.
